HD Makeup Studio & Academy: Bridal and Fashion Hairstyling Course

Yes I did it! I can now call myself a Professional Hair & Makeup Artist! I really enjoyed this class thanks to my fun and friendly classmates Wennie, Kitty, Tin, Glo, Mich and Bambi. (I will surely miss the bonding and endless chikahan). But after all the blowdrying, setting, curling, braiding, pinning, teasing, pinching… I completed my certificate for Bridal and Fashion Hairstyling course at HD Makeup Studio & Academy where I also finished my makeup course.

First, I want you to meet my doll head - haven't thought of  a name yet - who played a big part in my learning:

Here is a photo of my avant-garde look (sorry for the poor quality, only used an iPad) for graduation:

It was a very hot afternoon but I love what I do and nothing can stop me from from doing what I love. And now some stolen shots courtesy of FPPF President Sir Pablo Beltran. That's me in green shirt touching up my fresh (and sweaty) bride and with me in red is Ms. Bella Rodriguez busy with the groom.

3 Things I love about High Definition Makeup!

I have attended three Sunday weddings for the month of May. And it was the perfect time and occasion for me to personally try my makeup products. Now I have come up with three (3) things I love about high definition make-up. (Products I used: Nurturing Force Primer, RCMA foundation, Graftobian concealer, blush and cake eyeliner, Urban Decay eyeshadows, pencil eyeliner and eye primer, MAC powder, blush and lipstick)

Looks and feels NATURAL. I love how the product -especially my base- is absorbed by the skin and it doesn't feel heavy at all. (even my boyfriend thinks its light on the skin and he forgets he is wearing makeup - and that's a good sign!)

A little goes a LOOONNGGG way! At first I thought HD products are more expensive but I was wrong since I only needed a small amount of foundation to cover my face, a small amount of concealer to cover my blemishes etc. (You know what I mean c: ) So I still ended up saving more because of the high pigmentation these products have. (Key is knowing the right application and technique which I thank HD Makeup Studio & Academy for).

Lasts FOREVER. Okay, forever is exaggerated but my look lasted for hours in this humid summer weather we have in the Philippines. No touch up for me from church to reception. I only used blotting paper for excess oil but the primer I use really minimized the sebum. ( I have oily and acne prone skin). This is what I call DURABLE Makeup.

To my readers and clients, I only use products that I have personally tried because with NINS you hold "A promise of lasting and beautiful makeup in person and in pictures".

HD Makeup Studio & Academy: My dream begins here!

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”  -Confucius

I have always wanted to enroll in makeup school for two reasons:
1. For the love of make-up
2. For the certificate

On top of Google search results is HD Make-up Studio & Academy - the finest Hi-Definition makeup school in the country but this school was not my first choice. I don't want to mention the initial school I was aiming for, however, I see the HD studio when I sleep. So I said to myself, It's a sign!

I spent four Saturdays with two mentors (Sir Jeave and Ms. Stef), sixteen new friends (Mary, Mae, Joan, Kat, Mich, Kirbz, Mhy, Terri, Cha, Desh, Renee, Suzy, Tin, Tata, Belle and Leah) and other special people (Ate Nancy, Ate Lyn, Kuya Jet and Kuya Cocoy) who have all helped me make my learning experience as fruitful, fun and memorable as can be.

Here are some of the most important things about makeup that I learned from this school:
1. Keep  safety and sanitation in mind. I always keep my hands, tools and area clean. The least I want is for my client to get an infection over dirty brushes.
2. It's the result thats counts. No matter how many back-breaking hours I spend trimming and shaving my model's eyebrows, one unkept strand of hair can mess up the entire look.  Also, one can brag about how he/she is when it comes to applying makeup but all that matters is the completed look.

3. Right products and right techniques are a MUST. This is a very important lesson I learned on the first day when I didn't have the right flat brush to do a smokey eye look. Immediately, I got the professional brush set and paired with the right application, blending was a breeze. Smokey eye look  achieved!
4. Know what is right, know what is wrong, correct what is wrong. These are the traits of a professional.
5. Keep numbers 1 to 4 in mind. End.

After graduation, I feel like a warrior equipped with the right weapons to win every battle. I am a happy and proud graduate of HD Academy. I have reached my goal and two main reasons for studying which is for my love of makeup and for receiving my certificate. But above all, there is another reason that came about after graduation and that is to fulfill a DREAM. And my dream begins here!

*Photos of my actual works will be posted in another blog entry.
